Alfanar injects $100 million into Senvion for Indian expansion

Saudi group alfanar announces a direct capital injection of $100 million into wind turbine maker Senvion, with a first tranche of $34 million already disbursed in August 2026.

Saudi group alfanar has announced an additional direct capital funding of $100 million (approximately 950 crore Indian rupees) in wind turbine manufacturer Senvion. A first tranche of $34 million (approximately 320 crore rupees) was already disbursed in August 2026, with the remainder of the funding expected to be completed within a couple of weeks, according to the group's statement.

Support focused on technology and manufacturing

According to alfanar group, the funds will serve three strategic priorities: development of Senvion's long-term product roadmap, growth capital to support the company's business in India and international markets, and acceleration of its project pipeline through the "Senvion Certified Sites" offering. The group states that this move reflects its long-term commitment to India's "Make in India" initiative and its confidence in the country's emergence as a global hub for renewable energy manufacturing and innovation. The announcement comes as several Asian markets seek to structure their wind supply chains, as seen with Japan, which recently capped a 700 MW wind auction at 14 yen per kWh.

Jamal Wadi, Chairman of Senvion and President of Alfanar Projects, said India holds a central place in alfanar group's renewable energy strategy. He stated that the funding reflects the group's confidence in Senvion's leadership, engineering capabilities and technology roadmap. According to him, combining Senvion's wind engineering expertise with alfanar's strengths in power systems, grid infrastructure and energy storage would position the group to develop a next generation of integrated renewable energy solutions.

Strengthening R&D and human capital

Shreyas B. Suvarna, CEO of Senvion, thanked shareholders and the board for reaffirming their trust in the company. He said the funding would strengthen the foundations of the business where it matters most, including through deeper research and development capabilities aimed at delivering more reliable and higher-performing turbine platforms. The executive also referenced an improved ability to support customers throughout the 25-year lifecycle of their assets.

According to Shreyas B. Suvarna, Senvion will also continue investing in its people by developing talent and building a workplace that combines leading market practices with alfanar group's human capital expertise, refined according to the group over more than 40 years. The stated objective is to build globally competitive technology platforms from India and become the partner of choice for customers, employees and stakeholders across India and international markets.
