Eurowind Energy România has obtained technical grid connection approvals for seven renewable projects, including a large wind cluster in Botoșani county, as Blackstone Infrastructure recently entered the Danish group's capital.

Eurowind Energy România announced on August 26, 2026, that it had obtained technical grid connection approvals for a set of seven renewable projects spread across several counties in the country. The information, communicated by Country Manager Adrian Dobre, comes from a press release issued by the Danish group's Romanian subsidiary and picked up by Romanian and international media.

Seven projects spread across several counties

The portfolio combines several wind farms, one solar installation coupled with a battery energy storage system (BESS), and a large-scale project located in Botoșani county, which accounts for most of the announced capacity. This type of solar installation paired with storage follows a trend already seen elsewhere, illustrated by the plant commissioned by CrossBoundary Energy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Botoșani project consists of several wind farms whose construction is planned in multiple phases across several communes in the northern part of the county. The technical grid connection approval (ATR, or Aviz Tehnic de Racordare) is an authorization issued by the Romanian grid operator confirming the technical feasibility of a future connection for an installation. According to Eurowind Energy România, it constitutes neither a building permit nor a guarantee that the actual connection will occur on the announced timeline. The figure communicated in 2026 for the Botoșani project differs slightly from a public estimate the company itself provided in 2025, a discrepancy the company attributes to the evolving nature of a project still under development.

A pipeline conditional on grid consolidation

Eurowind Energy România states that the actual connection of the new projects is expected after 2030. The company itself notes that this timeline depends on the consolidation of the national electricity grid and on obtaining, in due course, the necessary construction permits — two conditions that do not depend solely on the company and that remain, at this stage, unguaranteed. This large announced pipeline contrasts with smaller-scale projects already under construction. Three distinct wind farms, comprising a defined number of turbines, have obtained their construction permits, and the company has communicated a precise timeline for equipment delivery and commissioning. This distinction between an announced development pipeline and a more limited concrete build-out frames how the August 26 announcement should be read.

A shifting shareholder base at the Danish parent company

The announcement comes amid a capital restructuring at the parent company. Since April 2026, Blackstone Infrastructure has become a minority shareholder of Eurowind Energy A/S, in a transaction still being finalized as of this announcement. According to the group, this investment is intended to accelerate the pace of project deployment. Jens Rasmussen was confirmed in his role as Chief Executive Officer of Eurowind Energy A/S on this occasion, alongside Gert Vinther Jørgensen, chairman of the group's board of directors and Group CEO of Norlys. Most of the data relating to the seven new Romanian projects rests on the company's own communications, reproduced verbatim by several media outlets. Botoșani county remains, at this stage, the main reservoir of capacity announced by Eurowind Energy România, though actual commissioning is not guaranteed before the next decade.
