Turkey has awarded 1,500 MW of wind capacity across seven Renewable Energy Resource Zones (YEKA) in the YEKA RES-2026 competitions held at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Twelve companies submitted 29 bids, according to the ministry. The seven grid connection capacities are located in Sivas, Balıkesir, Manisa and Kütahya. The competitions were broadcast live on social media.

Five companies share the seven lots

In Sivas, Metgün Enerji Yatırımları won the 320 MW R26-SİVAS RES lot, with a contribution commitment of €30,000 per MW, or €9.6 million. Poyraz Yenilenebilir Enerji Üretim secured the 140 MW R26-BALIKESİR 1 RES lot, at €42,000 per MW and €5.88 million. Egesa Elektrik İnşaat Enerji Üretim won the 235 MW R26-BALIKESİR 2 RES lot, for which the official table lists no contribution commitment.

Fe Girişim Enerji Üretimi İnşaat ve Dış Ticaret won two lots in Balıkesir. The first, R26-BALIKESİR 3 RES (170 MW), carries €20,000 per MW, or €3.4 million. The second, R26-BALIKESİR 4 RES (140 MW), shows the highest commitment in the table, at €154,000 per MW, or €21.56 million. Egesa also secured R26 MANİSA RES (235 MW) at €16,000 per MW, or €3.76 million, and Ecogreen Elektrik Enerji Üretim won R26-KÜTAHYA RES (260 MW) at €72,000 per MW, or €18.72 million.

Base price and sales conditions

All seven lots carry the same purchase price of 3.50 euro cents per kWh. According to the ministry, winners will be able to sell their electricity on the free market for 72 months from the contract signing date. They will then supply the electricity produced to the transmission system for 20 years, at 3.50 euro cents per kWh.

The results table totals €62.92 million in contributions. Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, for his part, cites a total of €75.5 million including VAT. The available data does not detail how one figure leads to the other.

Benefits cited by the minister

Alparslan Bayraktar says the 1,500 MW would generate 4.6 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity. According to him, this output would cover the needs of about 2 million households. He states that it would avoid natural gas imports worth $852 million a year.

The minister says the level of participation reflects investor confidence in the Turkish energy sector. He thanked all participating companies and congratulated the winners. He also expressed the hope that these capacities would be brought online quickly.
