Inox Solar Americas LLC, a U.S. company specializing in PV cells and modules, says its cell manufacturing facility in Greenville, North Carolina, remains on schedule. Production is due to begin in the second quarter of 2027, according to a press release published on November 2, 2026. The company says the construction site is moving into the equipment installation phase. The facility has an annual capacity of 3.0 GW and covers 515,460 square feet.

Vertical integration of U.S. production

In a solar market with a steady flow of announcements, such as Masdar's purchase of a solar project of more than 550 MW from Lightsource bp, Inox Solar Americas is emphasizing an integrated manufacturing strategy on U.S. soil. According to the company, cell manufacturing would complement its existing U.S. module production capabilities. It would allow the company to offer customers products with a higher share of domestic manufacturing.

The Greenville plant will combine Galaxion™ monocrystalline cell technologies with Gamma Series™ monofacial and Vega Series™ bifacial modules, both manufactured in the United States, according to the release. The company cites automation, precision cell processing, integrated inspection and testing, and production traceability. These elements are intended to strengthen manufacturing control from cell production through finished-module assembly.

Regulatory compliance and supply-chain traceability

Inox Solar Americas says on-site cell production would help customers meet U.S. domestic-content requirements, Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) and Prohibited Foreign Entity (PFE) considerations, and applicable trade rules. The company says it is strengthening supplier qualification, component-origin documentation and material traceability. It also highlights its production records and supply-chain due diligence.

Domestic cell production is also intended to reduce reliance on imported cells and exposure to global disruptions and trade-related risks. The company says it aims to offer more reliable product availability for U.S. projects. It adds that it is building manufacturing scale and supply continuity to support large, multiyear customer requirements.

"Our continued progress on U.S. PV cell manufacturing represents an important step in building a more integrated and resilient domestic solar supply chain," says Ashok Nair, President & CEO of Inox Solar Americas. He adds that bringing together cell technology, module manufacturing and quality control within the U.S. platform would strengthen the company's ability to ensure reliable supply. As shown by ENGIE's commissioning of 450 MW of solar at Khaba and Khavda, project delivery schedules remain a concern across the industry. The release gives neither the investment amount nor the number of jobs linked to the Greenville facility.
