Oman’s OETC & REN to boost cooperation in electricity transmission sector

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Portuguese energy sector company Redes Energéticas Nacionais (REN) in order to boost work mechanisms, joint technical cooperation, and knowledge sharing between the two companies in the field of transmission of electricity.
This agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties, to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and best practices in the technical and technology field.
Furthermore, the MoU encourages cooperation in the field of sharing information and studies in Technical and Scientific development in the electricity transmission sector and the use of the 4th industrial revolution in the development and operation of electrical networks.
According to the statement, “OETC is the responsible company for the transmission and dispatch of electricity in the northern Sultanate’s network and also in the Governorate of Dhofar, where electricity is transferred from generations’ stations to distributed load centers in all governorates of the Sultanate.”
The transmission network operates at a voltage of 132 kV and above to cover most governorates of the Sultanate, whether in the north or the south.
