RWE has chosen DeepOcean as the preferred supplier for subsea installation services in the Nordseecluster A offshore wind development. The project will combine wind farm sites in the eastern part of the German North Sea into a 1.6 GWproject, with a minimum of 104 wind turbines.

Once all wind farms are operational in early 2029, they will produce enough green electricity each year to supply 1.6 m German households. The development will be constructed in two phases, with the first two wind farms (N-3.8 and N-3.7) in the permit application phase, and the other two sites (N-3.6 and N-3.5) of the second phase (Nordseecluster B) adding an additional 900 MW.

Under the agreement, DeepOcean will manage the preparatory work, transport, and installations of all inter-array cables, including trenching, topside pull-ins, and terminations for the initial build-out phase. The company will install 185 km of 66 kV aluminum and copper cables, starting with connecting all 44 offshore wind turbines of Nordseecluster A.
