Engie secures green light for 199.2 MWac solar project in Chile
Engie has secured approval to move ahead with its 199.2 MWac Libelula solar project in Chile.
The project will be developed over an area of 265 ha across the Colina and Til-Til communes. The upcoming solar plant, equipped with 233,430 bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on metal structure followers, is expected to boast a nominal power of 199.2 MWac and an annual production capacity of 423 GWh. Additionally, an innovative energy storage system, utilizing a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), will be installed. This system not only prevents energy wastage but also maximizes efficiency by harnessing solar energy during the day and injecting it into the grid during the night hours.
The project includes plans for building an Elevation Substation and a High Voltage Transmission Line (LAT) measuring around 16 km in length with a voltage of 1x220 kV. This transmission line will link to the existing El Manzano Substation, facilitating the connection and injection of generated energy into the SEN (National Electric System).
