CNNC and EDF Sign a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement in Beijing
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the 40th anniversary of the presence of Électricité de France (EDF) in the Chinese market. Nuclear energy cooperation has become one of the most solid cooperation areas between the two countries.
During a meeting in Beijing on May 30, Yu Jianfeng, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), and Luc Rémont, chairman and CEO of EDF signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement in the field of nuclear energy, ushering in a fresh chapter of broad, multi-dimensional and in-depth collaboration between the two companies.
The two sides also signed a special cooperation agreement on the building of advanced nuclear power plants. According to these agreements, the two companies will further strengthen bilateral cooperation in multiple areas related to nuclear power, work together to assist both countries in achieving their carbon neutrality goals, and inject strong momentum into improving global nuclear energy governance, promoting economic and social development of China and France, and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
For a long time, CNNC has been a major force in China-France nuclear technology cooperation and has established a solid partnership with EDF with fruitful collaborative results. During their exchanges, both sides expressed their commitment to future development and conveyed the willingness to further leverage their respective strengths. Guided by the principles of mutual sharing, joint contribution and mutual benefit, the two companies will further deepen cooperation, advance together, and make contributions to the global nuclear energy development.
