Saipem wins two offshore projects worth $1bn in Saudi Arabia

Italian oil and gas contractor Saipem has won two deals worth $1bn from Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company.

Both involve the installation of platforms in the waters of the Gulf. One covers the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of three production-deck modules (PDMs), as well as 33km of subsea pipelines and 34km of power cables in the Marjan oil and gas field.

The second’s scope of work will take place in the Safaniyah and Zuluf oil fields, This covers five PDMs, 22km of subsea rigid pipelines, 5km of subsea flexible pipelines and 35km of subsea power cables.

Saipem will use its construction vessels for the work, and prefabrication will take place at the company’s Saudi Arabian yard.

Both contracts were offered under a pre-existing, long-term agreement with Aramco.
