DMCI 12.5MW Wind Project in the Philippines

First Wind Power Project Deployed & Commissioned

On April 12, 2025, SANY Renewable Energy's 12.5 MW wind power project for DMCI Power's Semirara power station in the Philippines was successfully connected to the grid. This achievement marks the first and only wind power project successfully deployed and commissioned in the country by a Chinese turbine manufacturer.

Consisting of two 6.25 MW wind turbines strategically erected to supply clean electricity directly to the local open-pit coal mine operation, the project not only optimizes the mine site's energy matrix but also powerfully showcases SANY R.E.'s superior capabilities in project customization and tailored energy solutions.

The wind farm operates within a 34.5 kV microgrid system jointly supported by thermal power, diesel generation (DG), and wind power to ensure overall grid stability, where voltage fluctuations occur frequently. Equipped with outstanding high- and low-voltage ride-through (HVRT & LVRT) capabilities, SANY R.E.'s turbines are able to effectively withstand voltage fluctuations to secure stable grid operation.

Situated in a region frequently affected by typhoons, the wind farm endures an average of 2 to 3 typhoon events each month. Through the uninterruptible yaw design, SANY Renewable Energy's turbines ensure the yaw system remains fully operational even during grid outages, thereby safeguarding the safety and integrity of the fleet.

Furthermore, given the location approximately 200 meters downwind from the coal mine, the turbines face prolonged exposure to coal dust. To ensure stable and long-term operation even under high-dust conditions, SANY R.E.'s design incorporates high-level sealing protection to effectively resist coal dust ingress.
