Côte d’Ivoire Moves Ahead With Solar IPPs

Côte d’Ivoire’s energy ministry has finally issued the request for proposals for the design, financing, construction and operation of two grid-connected solar independent power plants (IPPs) under the World Bank’s Scaling Solar Programme, after announcing the prequalified bidders in November 2021.

Photovoltaic solar power plants with a total installed capacity of at least 60MW are planned to be built at Laboa and Touba in the Bafing region in the west of the country.

Twenty bidders responded to the June 2021 tender and nine were prequalified to submit proposals.

The prequalified companies and consortia were: 

•    Voltalia (France)

•    Elsewedy Electric (Egypt)

•    Globeleq Africa Holdings (UK)

•    Nareva Holding (Morocco)

•    Scatec (Norway)

•    Infinity Power Holding (Egypt/UAE)

•    Enel Green Power (Italy) 

•    Green Yellow (France)

•    EDF Renouvelables / Meridiam (France)

They now have until 9 August 2024 to submit proposals.
