Bosnian power utility EP HZHB is in the process of selecting a contractor to conduct a feasibility study and develop a conceptual design for two new hydropower plants in the municipality of Žepče, located on the Bosna River. The project, which is estimated to cost around 120,000 euros (including VAT), involves the planned hydropower plants HPP Žepče and HPP Dubravica/Osova.

The funds for this project are allocated through the company’s three-year Business Plan for 2024-2026, as well as the Procurement Plan for 2024. The contract duration is set for 24 months, with the expectation that the feasibility study and conceptual design will be completed within 15 months.

The project aligns with the Spatial Plan of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for the period 2009-2029, which highlights the potential for hydropower development in the area. The Spatial Plan specifically identifies the Bosna River in the municipality of Žepče as a location for two hydropower plants, HPP Žepče and HPP Dubravica.

As part of this project, the selected contractor will conduct feasibility studies for these two independent hydropower projects. The bid submission deadline is set for November 28, 2024.
