Rosatom signs agreement for nuclear science centre in Ethiopia
Russian nuclear energy company Rosatom has signed an agreement with the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation & Technology to start developing a Centre for Nuclear Science & Technology.
Rosatom will carry out a feasibility study and identify possible sites, reports Nuclear Engineering International.
Ethiopia’s technology minister Belet Mall said Rosatom would help Ethiopia develop nuclear energy and non-energy programmes.
Ilya Vergizaev, a divisional leader at Rosatom, said his company was working on “various projects and joint solutions for the development of nuclear and radiation technologies on the African continent”.
They might include a research reactor, laboratories, and a nuclear medicine facility.
The proposal includes training, fuel supply, maintenance, and other services.
