Egypt's Kom Ombo 500 MW Photovoltaic Power Atation was Officially Put into Operation
Recently, Egypt's Kom Ombo 500 MW photovoltaic power station was officially put into operation.
This project is the largest single photovoltaic project currently in operation in Egypt and even Africa, covering an area of about 10 square kilometers, with a DC installed capacity of 560 megawatts in the photovoltaic field and a new 220 kV booster station.
After the project is put into operation, it is expected that the average annual power generation will reach 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and the carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 1.2 million tons. It will effectively increase the proportion of renewable energy power generation in Egypt, help the local energy supply system transform and upgrade toward clean and low-carbon development, and promote low-carbon, green, and sustainable development of the local social economy.
