Chinese energy storage solutions provider Hithium has entered a strategic global partnership with Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group to capitalise on the growing demand for energy storage solutions worldwide.

This collaboration is expected to bolster their project pipeline, which is estimated to encompass around ten gigawatt-hours (GWh) of total battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity.

The agreement was formalised at Hithium’s headquarters in Xiamen, China. The alliance is set to combine Hithium’s expertise in energy storage with Samsung C&T’s construction capabilities to deliver comprehensive solutions.

The partnership is expected to streamline supply chain processes and facilitate resource sharing, enhancing their competitiveness in the global market.

Hithium vice-president Nazar Yi said: “We are excited to partner with Samsung C&T as we work together to address the evolving energy storage landscape.

“This collaboration will not only strengthen our capabilities but also accelerate the deployment of innovative energy solutions on a global scale.”

Hithium’s global presence was further solidified in December 2024 with the launch of the ∞Power 6.25 megawatt-hour (MWh), two-hour/four-hour high-capacity BESS at the second Hithium Eco-Day. The global deliveries are set to commence in Q2 2025.

Furthermore, Hithium has secured a contract to supply 640MWh of energy storage capacity to Lightsource bp.

The company is also collaborating with INTEC Energy Solutions for the operation and maintenance of the Woolooga BESS Stage 1 project in Australia, which boasts a total energy storage capacity of 222MW/640MWh.

In October 2024, Hithium and Nabilah AlTunisi’s company, MANAT, formed the joint venture Hithium MANAT to build a BESS facility in Saudi Arabia with an annual production capacity of 5GWh. Hithium launched a 55MWh BESS project in Razlog, south-western Bulgaria, in June 2024.
