CEEC Wins Bid for Ecological Restoration Project in Kenya
CPECC Guangxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd., a CEEC subsidiary, recently won a bid for the ecological restoration project in the Nairobi River Basin in Kenya, with a bid of 3.3 billion yuan (about 451 million US dollars).
This project, funded and built by the Kenyan government, is a significant outcome of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in Beijing.
Situated in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, the project encompasses the construction of sewage mains and plants, restoration and safeguarding of water sources, flood management, solid waste handling, development of transportation infrastructure, and comprehensive urban landscaping.
The Nairobi River serves as the lifeblood of Nairobi. In recent years, challenges like urban sprawl, river contamination, encroachment, and flooding during the rainy season have become more pronounced. Through restoration efforts, the project aims to address water scarcity in Nairobi, bolster flood resilience, enhance the quality of life for locals, and drive sustainable economic and social progress in the area.
