A ceremony was held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to mark the commencement of commercial operations for the first phase of the Khammouane Sebangphay 50 MW solar power generation project on March 1. Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone was present to witness this significant event.

This project, as Lao's first PV-Storage Project, was constructed by CEEC China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd. (CGGC) under an EPC contract.

The milestone signifies the project's transition into a new phase of full-scale operation.

The project, situated in Thakhek District and Sebangphay District of Khammouane Province, is a crucial project under the Belt and Road cooperation. It is the first large-scale solar project in Laos developed by a Chinese company.

The initial phase of the project has a capacity of 50.1 MW, along with a 10 MWh energy storage system.

Once completed, it is projected to produce nearly 100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, effectively enhancing Lao's power infrastructure and easing its electricity supply limitations.

Meanwhile, it will bring a green boost to local economic and social progress, setting a strong foundation for establishing a "low-carbon economic corridor" between China and Laos.
