China Water Industry Group Limited (hereinafter referred to as "CWI") and the Pekanbaru City Government of Indonesia officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to jointly advance the landfill gas (LFG) comprehensive utilization project at the TPA Muara Fajar landfill site. This collaboration not only marks another major breakthrough for CWI in overseas renewable energy but also injects new vitality into environmental protection and energy cooperation between China and Indonesia.

The signing ceremony was attended and witnessed by the General Manager of CWI's overseas project subsidiary, Victory Strategy Investment Limited, the Indonesia Project Director, and the Mayor of Pekanbaru. The agreement signifies a deep consensus between both parties on landfill gas utilization and lays a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the project.

Pekanbaru is the capital city of Riau Province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, serving as a vital economic and transportation hub for the province, with a population of approximately 1.2 million. In recent years, rapid urbanization has led to a sharp increase in municipal solid waste, placing growing pressure on waste management. The TPA Muara Fajar landfill, the city's primary waste disposal facility, currently processes around 1,000 tons of waste daily. However, the existing landfilling model faces numerous challenges in terms of environmental sustainability.

Leveraging its advanced technology and extensive experience in environmental protection and renewable energy, CWI will collaborate with the Pekanbaru City Government to develop the landfill gas utilization project at TPA Muara Fajar. The project will employ cutting-edge LFG collection, purification, and utilization technologies to convert waste-derived landfill gas into clean energy, achieving resource recovery and sustainable energy supply.

From a strategic perspective, this cooperation project has multiple far-reaching implications. For Pekanbaru City, the project will effectively address environmental issues associated with landfilling, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve urban air quality. Additionally, the clean energy generated from LFG utilization will provide a stable power supply, alleviating local energy shortages and promoting sustainable economic development.

For CWI, this collaboration represents a critical step in its overseas renewable energy market expansion and marks its third such agreement in Indonesia. By participating in the project, CWI not only demonstrates its technical expertise and innovation capabilities in environmental and energy sectors but also strengthens its international presence. The project will also provide valuable overseas experience, paving the way for future initiatives in other regions.

Looking ahead, CWI and the Pekanbaru City Government will work closely to advance the implementation of the TPA Muara Fajar LFG utilization project, building on the momentum of this agreement. With joint efforts, the project is expected to achieve resounding success.
