Chinese and US companies compete for Kuwait oil project
Companies from China and the US are among those prequalified to bid for Kuwait’s planned project to develop a separation facility at GC‑25 and a water‑injection facility at GC‑30, according to information first obtained by MEED Projects.
The bid deadline is set for 19 October 2025, but some stakeholders believe further delays are possible before bids are submitted.
Companies that are prequalified and expected to participate in the bidding include:
- China Oil HBP (China)
- Schlumberger (US)
- Mechanical Engineering & Contracting Company (Kuwait)
- Alkhorayef Water & Power Technologies (Saudi Arabia)
- Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting (Kuwait)
The project is being tendered by state-owned upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and is estimated to be worth $340m. It has seen significant delays at the tendering stage since it was first announced.
The invitation to bid on the project was released in December last year with an initial bid submission date of 16 March 2025. Since then, the bid deadline has been delayed at least nine times.
