Suzlon has secured a new 250 MW order from Torrent Green Energy, bringing the cumulative partnership between the two Indian groups to 1,306 MW across three states.

Suzlon Energy announced on August 25, 2026, the signing of a new 250-megawatt (MW) order from Torrent Green Energy, a company of the Indian Torrent Group. This is the sixth order placed by this customer, bringing the cumulative partnership between the two companies to 1,306 MW. The contract now spans three Indian states: Gujarat, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Suzlon will supply 76 turbines of its flagship S144 model, each with a unit capacity of 3.3 MW, along with grid integration and long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) services.

A sixth contract that widens the industrial footprint

The order comes amid strong momentum for the Indian turbine manufacturer, which has secured more than 1.1 gigawatts (GW) of new orders since the start of fiscal year 2027 (FY27). The global wind market continues to show varied regulatory and operational trends, illustrated by the price cap set by Japan for a 700 MW wind auction, or by Ørsted's decision to shut down a turbine after a fire at the Greater Changhua 4 wind farm. For Suzlon, the new contract further strengthens its presence in Madhya Pradesh, a market the company views as an emerging growth driver for wind energy in India.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said the true measure of success lies not in a single order but in partnerships that endure and grow over time. According to him, Torrent Green Energy has been one of the group's valued partners for more than a decade, and the relationship has grown into one of Suzlon's largest customer partnerships. Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said customer confidence remains the company's biggest strength, as reflected in the 1.1 GW of new orders secured since the start of FY27.

An expanding footprint in India's wind market

The partnership between Suzlon and Torrent Green Energy reflects the consolidation of India's wind market, where large industrial groups are increasingly signing long-term contracts with local turbine manufacturers. The supply of 76 S144 units comes bundled with a maintenance and grid-integration contract, a business model becoming more common across the sector, as illustrated by the distribution center recently opened by Envision Energy in the Philippines. Suzlon's expanding portfolio in Madhya Pradesh adds to its existing positions in Gujarat and Karnataka, two states historically active in wind capacity development in India.

Since the start of FY27, Suzlon has accumulated more than 1.1 GW of new orders, including the 250 MW awarded by Torrent Green Energy. The partnership between the two groups now totals 1,306 MW spread across three Indian states.
