Greece approved Terna Energy’s 40-MW wind project
The Ministry of Environment has issued an environmental permit to Terna Energy regarding a 40-MW wind project in East Macedonia and Thrace region. The approval is tied to the Mavri Petra wind project in the Orestiada municipality of the regional unit of Evros and was awarded by the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The wind park will be equipped with eight turbine generators with a tip height of 134 metres and a capacity of 5 MW each. Originally, Terna Energy planned to install a 45-MW wind farm with nine turbines but a revision of the proposal led to removing one of the machines.
As of September 2023, Terna Energy had 1,225 MW of renewable power plants in operation, among which is the 330-MW Kafireas wind farm on Evia island in the Mediterranean. The company is working on a plan to reach 6 GW of installed capacity by 2029.
