Uzbekistan Holds Ceremony Dedicated to Launching and Construction of Key Energy Projects
The President’s Office of Uzbekistan held a ceremony dedicated to the launching and construction of new projects in industry, energy and chemical fields in Fergana Region on July 11, local time.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended and addressed the function.
The ceremony included the participation of the 150MW/300MWh energy storage power plant in Oz, which is the largest overseas investment of single-unit electrochemical energy storage project by a Chinese company.
This project was invested by China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. and contracted by CPECC Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The enlisting of the project signifies the rapid progress of Uzbekistan's first batch of foreign investment in grid-scale energy storage new energy projects.

In his speech, President Mirziyoyev expressed that the completion of the energy storage project in Oz and other key energy projects will effectively alleviate the power shortage in the Fergana Region, enhance the stability and security of the power system, benefit millions of local residents, and contribute to the new growth of Uzbekistan's energy, power, and green economy.

The Oz energy storage project, an important project benefiting the people, was showcased through video link for representatives of Fergana Region residents, who were invited to attend the ceremony at the main venue to watch the progress of the project.

The Oz energy storage project and the Rochi energy storage project in Andijan Region, invested and constructed by China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., started construction simultaneously in March 2024.
The total investment of the Oz energy storage project is approximately 140 million US dollars, making it CEEC’s first batch of overseas energy storage projects. It is planned to be put into commercial operation in December 2024.
During the construction, the project will create over 300 job opportunities for the local community. Once completed, it will provide 2.19 billion kWh of electricity to the Uzbek grid, and promote the local economy and improve the lives of local residents.
Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, along with Governor of Fergana Region Khayrullo Xayitbayevich Bozarov, and heads of the energy storage project companies, were present at the ceremony held at the main venue. Employees of the project companies and heads of participating units joined the event through video link.
