Croatia gets five bids for 179 mln euro motorway project

Croatia’s state-owned motorway company Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) said it has received five bids in a 179 million euro ($209 million) tender to build the 11.5-km Slano-Mravinjac section of the Metkovic-Dubrovnik motorway, part of the Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik route.

Two international consortia and three foreign companies have made offers, according to a protocol by HAC published on Thursday.

The lowest bid, excluding VAT, was 214.5 million euro from India’s Afcons Infrastructure Limited. Turkish Cengiz İnsaat Sanayi ve Ticaret offered 258.9 million euro, while China Road and Bridge Corporation bid 277.5 million euro.

A consortium of Croatia’s Texo Molior and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation offered 288.3 million euro. The highest bid, 328.9 million euro, came from a consortium of Croatian Strabag d.o.o. and Austrian Strabag AG.
